Sunday October 8, 2006 at Tri-city Speedway
The team had a 40 minute drive to get to the Tri City speedway and got their plenty early to get the car prepared for the final race of the 2006 POWRi season. The day started out with only 50 cars but was still going to be a good and tough night of racing. Jonathan and the team was looking forward to defending the winners circle by trying to bring home another win. The day started of pretty well with the car being pretty quick in the hot lap session. Then the team moved to the heat race. Jonathan was in the third heat race and had the pole position. He took the green flag and never looked back picking up another heat race win moving his total wins to 25 wins.
The team had earned the third starting position in the 20 lap feature right behind the points champion Kevin Bayer. The race was under way and Jonathan had the second positions but was not gaining any ground on the leader Kevin Bayer. on lap 5 there was a red flag which allowed the crew to make some minor adjustments to the car and try and make it faster. With the crews adjustments being successful Jonathan took the lead on lap 12 and led until lap 19 were he was challenged for the number one spot in lap traffic. Kevin Bayer took the lead going into turn 1 on the white flag lap. Jonathan was not going to give up yet. He got to the inside of Kevin in turn three but did not get the run coming of the corner and Jonathan and Kevin were neck and neck across the finish line. With both drivers not knowing who had won the POWRi officials said the Kevin had won by just a hair. The team kept their heads high taking the second place finish and finishing the year with a great year with 14 feature wins and 25 total feature and heat race wins.
